What the app does

Pennywise is a personal expense tracker that reads bank and UPI transaction SMS on your device to automatically categorize and display your spending.

Data we collect

• Transaction SMS messages from your device (bank alerts only)
• No personal information, login credentials, or account numbers are collected

How data is stored

• All data is stored locally on your device using an on-device database
• No data is sent to any server, cloud, or third party
• No analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs are used

Permissions used

• READ_SMS — to read bank transaction messages and parse spending data
• INTERNET — solely to fetch the current USD/INR exchange rate from a public API (open.er-api.com)

Data sharing

We do not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties.

Data deletion

• You can delete all data at any time from Settings > Reset All within the app
• Uninstalling the app removes all stored data permanently
